Where to mount Racetech/Ohlins shock reservoir on ZX11D?

I've been looking at the back of my bike from many angles, humming and hawing, trying to think of a good way to mount the Racetech reservoir on my rebuilt shock, but there's not a lot of exposed subframe. Out of curiousity, I looked up the Ohlins instructions to see where they say to put theirs, and they suggest putting it inside the tail cowling, where it would be completely inaccessible unless maybe you carved out a chunk from the fender.

Surely somebody else has dealt with this. Where's a good spot to put it?!

Some fiberglass race tails have a large screw open/shut access panel under the tail.

Well, actually, no I dont think anybody has dealt with this. I was interested in doing the same thing and I had two different mechanics say it was overkill....... Unless I was going to the race trak, a new spring and valving kit should work just fine. Plus Id save about $200 in the process.

Good luck....

I don't know about that ... the stock shock body is pretty tiny for a 600lb bike. When I was riding through the Adirondacks last fall the shock got all bent out of shape going over the continual expansion cracks. Plus now I've gained compression adjustment ... once it's all back together.

Just make a small aluminum bracket and mount it to the inside rear footpeg....cheap and easy... I did mine that way and looks great.

Curious. Im around 240, and my bike has over 32k on her. Rear shock works just fine stock.....

That sounds like the ticket. You wouldn't have a picture for reference, would you?

Wait, is that a ZX-9R wheel with a Dymag sticker on it?

Are they direct bolt on Crash, or were different spacers needed?

Dymag assets were bought by CSA Ventures out of Singapore

Yea...I know about the BK...Thats why I made my own. I would have bought a set if I could have found them.
NO...they are far from a bolt on. The front will slide right in from 91 up. The rear is a total remake. Call Poway Motorcycle, they might set you up with a kit. They have to machine the ecsentric adjusters, change the bearings in the wheels, modify and swap caliper bracket, machine the spacer that goes on right side.

crashtech,

Could you give details of the wheel mod. It looks good, but I'm in UK so Poway Motorcycle is not the best option for me.

The rear end looks really tidy. As far as I can see from this photo there is no fender or hugger fitted. What work have you done on it?

I have...The eccentrics have to be machined (left shorter then the right for spacing), The bearings have to be changed (axle is smaller on 7R), The caliper hanger bracket needs to be modified and changed (bigger axle and smaller rotor), the right side spacer has to be shortened (spacing).
No I did not measure anything before I installed it. Just visual observations. No I am not taking everything apart. I call BS on the accross the pond thing cause I ship stuff over all the time. Its not that expensive. If you contact Poway they will more then likely help you if they can. They would even probably set you up on an exchange after you receive the modified parts. You will need to install the bearings though.
I dont like a hugger on this bike because the rear is big enough you could not see it anyhow....thats why the oem fender is on..
