Carb Slide Will NOT Rise

Upon installation after a carb cleaning/rejet/needle adjustment, #1 slide will not rise when I open the throttle with the airbox off. The bike had been sitting for about 3 months. #4 opens the most , then #3, then #2, but nothing from #1. The difference in rise between #2 -#4 in not that much different but a little. Any ideas? TIA.

Give the slides a push with your finger. If they all move easy, and return the same speed on their own, they should be ok. I'd suspect that your diaphrams are not seated or dammaged, or something is blocking the hole in the slide. First suspect is the diaphrams tho. Sometimes they can be a beotch to get seated proper when they are old. I figured out the hard way that some carb cleaners will dammage them too, so I pull that stuff all out and only use carb cleaner to hose out the small passages and disolve goo in the bowls, with as much of the rubber parts out as possible. Once I got this sorted on my 9r they all reacted the same when pushing them with my finger and when running.

I saw you read my post about my C4 refusing to run - or the slides to lift - with the airbox off. Idled just fine, but sat there and blubbered away, spitting raw gas out of the throats.

Just for giggles, you may want to try replacing the airbox and ensuring that it's sealed. I spent more time than I want to talk about trying to get the thing to run with the 'box off.

Of course, the carbs have to be adjusted correctly, but the bike will not run past the pilot jets without the airbox on.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I will check the plastic insert in #1 slide to see if it is blocking the hole(s) and make sure it is seated properly. If there are any other ideas, I am open to suggestions.

Did you check to see if your diaphrams were sitting right? It might seem like something that could not have possibly gone wrong, but I did just exactly that with some old, slightly shrunk diaphrams, and swore I had them installed perfect. Wrong. And it did exactly what you are describing.
