Has anyone actually USED their frame sliders?

I know there are a few threads about which companies make what frame sliders for ZX11's, but does anyone actually have any good experiences with them? I had a set of GSG's on my bike, and got sideswiped by a car going 40~50k (20ish mph?) and went down. At some point, the screw that holds the puck to the offset plate actually PULLED THE THREADS out of the plate, and obviously unattached itself. End of the story is I need to replace both the upper and lower cowl anyways.

Has anyone actually had frame sliders work for them? I'm debating whether to shell out 200 bucks for another pair, if they always break (talked to a person who had a different brand, and the bolt sheared off on impact....).

Thanks!

If I had frame sliders on my bike, it wouldve prevented the scratches on my fairings. They are now just battle scars from a tip over in the garage. DAMN that piece of shit Vortex rear stand!!!! They suck!

i dont have frame sliders but i do have 905 racing rails.. and i have tested em twice.. both times only damage was to the stock shift pedal and the other was the brake pedal and a lil scuff on the slider pucks- both were low speed (( 10-15mph )) crashes. one a highside and the other a lowside.. neither from actually going thru twisties.. i was being an ass in my friends cul de sac and tryin to slide to a stop and put the kickstand down and dismount.. lol didnt work out too well at first

To be sure sliders won't always save the bike, but that's no reason to not have them. Most of the time they will at least minimize the damage. It's just like having gear when you ride; the lid and leathers won't always keep you from dying, but they sure improve your odds, so just wear them.

My bike hasn't been down on the road yet, but has managed to be knocked over on both sides while sitting still (note I blame the bike, not the stupid owner) and the only damage is a little (1/2 the size of a dime) scab on one side of the plastic by the passenger seat; woulda been way worse without them.

Check out the active topics and you'll see pics of a bike that went down from being side-swiped. The pics are great for showing how much sliders can help.

My sliders helped my bike. I laid it down doing about 55.. If they werent there my bike would be done. My fairings were just scratched up.
