Rear Brake Caliper Lock Up!

So went for a ride today and the rear caliper froze on me while rideing thank fully it didn't cause me to wreck. Now heres the werid thing i got the bike back to the house and let the rotor and caliper cool off and go to move the bike and it moves as easy as can be. I pull the caliper off and inspect the thing and it looks great. I put it back on and take it for a ride and the rear brake pedel is as hard as can be to push. It kind of stops with the rear brakes but not very easily. Anyone can give me some Ideas of what is wrong besides the caliper just being plain bad. Can you rebuild the caliper or just buy a used one off ebay?

You can certainly rebuild the rear caliper. What I worry about is that if the pistons are seized in the caliper, the pistons and the caliper may be so damaged as to negate any savings. The packs and the seals are about $40. Take the caliper apart and push out the pistons to check them for damage.

Just realized that the C model has a different rear caliper. Seals are actually a little cheaper, but you have to check that caliper can shift side to side OK since the pistons are only on one side.
