Question About Exhaust Install

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this site and to the zx11 motorcycle. I have a 1997 zx11 and I just purchased a new D&D exhaust (left side). Can someone please give me some advice on the easiest way to remove the old exhaust and installing the new one. I have experience in removing and installing exhaust systems on cruisers, but never on a sports bike. After looking over the zx11, it appears removing the radiator would be a necessary step. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Definitely necessary to remove the radiator and oil cooler, might as well change the coolant while you are at it.
Also look at changing the radiator fan to an aluminum one from Muzzy's, as the heat from the aftermarket exhaust header will melt the stock fan, and the Muzzy's fan is a more efficient 6-blade also.
Good luck,

DK

You do not have to remove both radiator and oil cooler but it helps. I do it by unfastening them and "pushing" them forward as far as the hoses allows. You must also protect (from scratches) the rear section of the front fender by putting a rag or blanket over it.

I can vouch for the fan melt thing. I did not know that muzzy had a fix, though.
