need advice!(whats Practical?

Well it goes a lil somethin like this.....I have a 91 zx1100 that i have about a total of $10,000 wraped up into it,this is including the $3,500 that i paid for it.I have bent shift forks,bad oil pump etc.I need a motor,to have my motor fixxed propperly it will cost $3-$5,000dollars!Some say its really not worth it to put this kind of money into a 1991c mod.Also im scared to buy a used motor especially since i wouldnt know how its been taken care of.[trust!]I love my bike,id like to have a 14,however i dont want the payment right now.Are their trust worthy junk yards that run the used motors first and give a guarente?Also what is a fair price,id like to put in a newer motor,up to 1998.$1,500-$2,000??A whole used bike goes for $4,500.Need help with some ideas,just want to ride!Wheres the good salvage yards?

trade it on something 21st centrury(a 14)

no point putting all that money into a 17 yr old bike
and dont buy a motor from a junkyard. PP is way better

I got a 92 back in Feb. for $1750 with 16000 miles on it. You should be able to buy them all day for $2500. But that just my 2 cents.

Maddmaxx thanks for the thought ,I know that the bike is 17 years old,i do like classics including kz1000s etc. If my zx was running right it would be a nice fast comfortable sport tour bike,with polished frame,glossy black paint with no emblems,muzzy pipe, and paid off which really is nice!Its a hard decission cause im into it to deep money wise, hard to cut my losses,concidering then i would have the task of parting out every little part of the bike in order to recoope some dollars.There are alot of these bikes out there on the forums,however i think im one of the few that have had this motor dilima?thanks, really tryin to make the right decission.

You don't want to borrow money to buy a Zx 14 and you have 10K in your bike. So you like that '91.

Do you have a high mileage engine? Outside of the bent shift forks and the oil pump what else is wrong with the engine? The pump and tarnny stuff is not that expensive on E-bay.

If it hasn't been stunted and #3 is OK maybe the best way to go is to buy the manuals on E-bay, pull the engine down, ask a gazillion questions on this list and fix it.

Maybe $500.00-$600.00 in parts?

keep it then. Do what some people have suggested about the motor and fix her up

sounds like cash is tight, but u could keep this one and get a zx 14 too
i know it more cash that u will have to spend, but the 14 will be sweet if u can make it work $ wise
