The diagram is huge, I can't seem to get it out of adobe in a form that you can blow up without losing clarity, and it has to be blown up huge to be able to see the wire colors. Your best bet is to replace the chopped harness completely, plug and play.

that was the solution i was leaning towards because the last thing i want to do is short anything out by improper wiring.

Not a big deal, it is simple... where are the wires cut? Past the connector? Before? or...?

Let me know and I will tell you where each wire goes.... no need to waste $100 on a harness if you dont have to

$100?! Maybe new from a dealer. I see perfectly fine used ones all the time under $20.

I have had a running search for 10R parts with email notifications going on ebay for over a year, they come up literally all the time. They're out there, all you have to do is look around a little. As far as I know, there is no harness that is specifically "ignition", but all the various harnesses are much the same, short of the main harness, which still comes up around twenty bucks regularly if not most often. Fifty is more common, but I, for one, would rather pay a hundred for a clean used harness than add more hack and slash mickey mousing to the situation if they were that much, but they aren't. They are usually much, much less as just today's examples show, and that's without even looking into the other link I posted or talking to the various people here or at zx-10r.net who are parting out their bikes:
