New ZX10 Owner in NW Florida
Bought a used 08, Black ZX10R with 1027 miles. I am a mod anything to go faster kinda guy. No stranger to bikes. Fast memorable bike-01 Bandit 1200, naked. Bought a VFR800 about a month or so ago. Not fast enough. I have ridden it from a stop to beat SOME 600's to 135ish. No problem launching in the past...
...fast forward to the ZX10...HOLY S***!!! Why on earth did I buy an 08 ZX10R, of all bikes. First thought, "Why in the world would someone put some much power in such a light and nimble bike?" Not just hype, it's legit.
1st gear, roll on...uh oh...get it back down...upshift to 2nd...uh oh...get it back down...upshift to 3rd...finally...
Don't get me wrong; I am a straightline accelerating kinda guy, but I do like the twisties.
I am now looking for swingarm extensions...
Flame away, but I like speed, I am 250 and I can't keep it down. I did do a roll on in 2nd with success in not looping it, but I know first ain't happening.

Welcome! If you like twisties, extending the swingarm probably isn't the best idea. Better to learn a little throttle control. You've just spent your life on bikes that you can crank the shit out of them off the line and not pay for it, it's created habits. The 10R is a big pussy once you get used to it, give it some time before you change anything. Most of us have long since tired of the factory snap and added 1/5 throttle conversions, timing eliminators, even re geared them to pull harder off the line. I weigh close to 100lbs less than you and I'm still looking for more. Trust me, you'll get used to it.

I hope so. Really, one of the only things to do around here is ride out into the rural areas, to be able to get on them with very few twisties, and go to the local 1/8 mile...I know I will get used to it, but MY GOD. I don't think my Stepdaughter's Boyfriend's 05 was this nasty...

I got an easy solution to the wheelie problem, bring it up here. Some nice thin 5,000' air should do the trick. Bogggggggg. Before you know it, you'll be wondering what you ever saw in that little 10 and start longing for a 14.
