10r shifter no play!

So I dont know about you guys but the position of my pegs is just lovely certainly not worth paying good money just to have a new rear set. But I sure do hate play in my linkage almost enough to buy a new set till I figured out a cheap easy cure. The rear set doesnt need to reverse the shift pattern. So all I had to do was bolt on a shifter in reverse. A Triumph TT 600 shift lever works perfectly, it puts the toe bar exactly were it was with the stock linkage. Check out the pics. The other one is one I made for my track bike, its completely adjustable. Talk about sweet heaven. Shifting is awsome NO PLAY

You know, all you have to do to take the play out is loosen two jamb nuts and spin the bar, right?
That one you made for the track bike is pretty trick looking though.

Well for me there still is to much slop in all the linkage. And this set up is way simpler. I did toy with the idea of building a ball bearing set up but it just started to get heavy and complicated. Kawi obviously knows they have a problem as the only real change on the 2010 10R is a modification of the shift shaft mechanism to eliminate play. They have been hunting this down for a while. If you look at the 04-05 linkage it has a longer arm on the splined shaft than the 06-07. It takes longer to engage. Like Albert Einstein said. Things should be made as simple as possible but no simpler!
