08 ZX10R Winter Storage

Again i need some advice.
I want to cancel my insurance on my bike during the winter months. This will save me 70 bucks a month. Because i am canceling my insurance i will be storing the bike in my basement.
Is it ok for me to run the bike empty of gas for winter storage in my basement?
Thanks.

It's not a very good idea to run your bike in your house. Take the tank off, drain it, then run the rest out before you put it in the basement.

some insurance companies will charge extra the following season due to lapse in coverage. be careful, maybe call your insurance company and ask a few questions first.

Wink

Here in Michigan,we drop our insurance down from full coverage to storage. We drop collision and keep on the comprehensive,Its cheap, you still have insurance so you don't laps on coverage and the bank people are happy..

Mulatto, I realize it's kinda late, I just cought this post.
You should probably fill your fuel tank & as someone else mentioned, put Sta-Bil in the fuel.
I summerize my sleds & winterize my dirtbike every year with a full tank and sta-bil & never have any problems.
If you drain your tank you will probably have problems with gaskets/ hoses drying out & condensation in the tank.
Just my 2 cents.

I've never winterized a bike but Sta-Bil works great. Not a bad idea to put the bike on stands so the tires don't get a flat spot. The battery might need some attention after sitting for that long.
