Bt-016's

I was looking online and the new BT-016's are pulling great remarks. After looking at the obvious, my '08 10r has them. Wow, right. haha.

Is there really a difference between stock tires and "aftermarket" tires?

Yes there is a difference. The aftermarket 016's are triple compound on the rear. The oems are not. The oems cost less too.

This was the case with the dunlop qualifiers on the '06 zx10r also. The oem's sucked and the aftermarket qualifiers were very good tires.

Even the oem pirelli dragon supersa pros on the triumph 675 are inferior to the aftermarket version.

The pirelli supercorsas sc2 that come standard on the ducati 1098R are pirelli's front line track tire. Who can afford the 40k pricetag on that duc though?

I guess the harder oem tires are cheaper to produce in large quanities. It's got to boil down to money somehow. I am no expert, but this is what i've seen.

That's interesting. The Dunlop D218s that came on my 05 are for the most part only available through Kawi dealerships, and retail for more than my PP 2CTs cost me at the same dealer. I mean, they seem like they were probably pretty nice tires (before they dried out and cracked all over the place) but for over $500 I wouldn't even think about getting them again.
