Reverse shift?
I just picked up my new 08 ZX10R and had a few questions.Most of the newer bikes with stock rearsets you can turn the shifter around for reverse shift.First glance at the shifting mechanism it doesn't appear you can do that on this bike, can anybody tell me if they have done that?Otherwise it is straight to the aftermarket rearsets for the gp shift.Has anybody piped,power commandered and aftermarket airfiltered thier 08 ZX10 and had it dynoed?

I am not sure about just flipping the stock linkage on the 08 because I have yet to see one in person. But I will tell you that you don't have to get aftermarket rearsets to make it gp shift. You can get an aftermarket shift lever that mounts directly to the gear change pivot shaft. You just get rid of the stock linkage and install the lever and you're done. I have seen them as cheap as $20. Good luck.

What about on a second gen (06-07)? I was looking into doing this...

This is for the zx6r. If your linkage will clear the frame then it will work. But, like I said, you can eliminate all of your linkage and just get an aftermarket shift lever that attaches directly to the gear change shaft.

Vert, for our years it works the same way, just flip it over, and trim the plastic a bit...
look here, you can see the notch cut out of the fairing... I know i have different rearsets, etc, but I'm sure you'll have to still cut out yer stock stuff...

Im thinking about it... im going to have to re-learn my muscle memory though... it would suck to be flying down the road, 10k in second or something and go to shift to third and put it back in first...

Vert, when you first switch it. you take it easy until you get used to it.. Trust me.. you will love it once you train yer memory |

That is why I wish to switch to gp shift.I did it years ago on my Duc and loved it.I am really having to think about it when I am riding right now.Thank god for a slipper clutch.

I just flipped mine this weekend. No problems with the 2008 10R's. I have an 05 ZX636 and had it reverse shift. Never went back to stock.

When I was first going to get a liter bike, I couldnt decide between a CBR1000RR or a ZX10R... the slipper clutch was the deciding factor... I can't live without one!
