So after two weeks of waiting for my Lockhart Phillips carbon sliders to come in, I'm pretty sure they sent me the wrong ones, or at least the wrong hardware.
According to the [universal] instructions, they're supposed to bolt on at one of the engine mounts. They allegedly don't require body modifications (yeah, right) and the only spot where the offset will work without major cutting in the cowl would put them in the vents in the cowling.
Not that there's anything wrong with that location, but that means that the offset bolts on toward the rear and the slider bolts to it toward the front of the bike. If the bike went down like this, no matter how tight the offsets were bolted on I'm pretty sure the sliders would swing towards the rear which would break the shit out of the cowling- exactly what you put sliders on to avoid.
Furthermore, the bolts are WAY too long. Like, they gave me 3" bolts to replace 1.5" bolts. There isn't a hole on this bike that I could sink these things in to.
So, those of you with 04-05 ZX10s with sliders, does any of this sound familiar? I can't believe a $140 set of sliders could be this poorly designed, but for the life of me I can't see any way to make these work. Here's a pic of what I have, for reference; does this look right to you guys?
