New ZX-10 Owner!! ** Alien Transplant from Fireblades.org **
Hey
I sold off my 2001 929 and bought a 2005 Titanium ZX-10r!!! quite an upgrade if I may... I was quite comfortable with the 929 and it's limits and the Ninja feels totally different, but a good different. I've only ever ridden an 02 R1 with lots of goofballs (full exhaust, PC3, stacks, blablabla) this bike has a similar throttle and has the smaller frontend like the R1. Me likey!!
My bike has a Akro Slipon and some LED turn signal mess. I'm just about to order up a set of SS lines and some T-Rex frame sliders.
Any other suggested upgrades? I see allot on here about the 1/5 throttle jargon. I should be able to search for it now that I've signed up.
Is there chance at getting a separate forum for completed mods w/ pics & instructions. (similar to fireblades.org's)
Thus far I've noticed the weird bodywork rattle and the obscene amounts of power and associated speed with 8k+ rpm's.
I'll get some pics up soon. Going to see my R1 buddy tomorrow and show up my pretty Titanium finish
Not bad for my 2nd bike.. Good things come to those who wait...

i personally like ebay, if not ebay, then kneedraggers.com. set up an account with them, enter your bike, and they'll list all the parts they carry for it. Very handy.

welcome aboard gloofy, i too went from honda to kawasaki, and definately arent looking back! a good cheap add on mod is the gipro with tre (gear indicator and timing retard eliminator) the gear indicator is neat but the tre takes out the "lag"???? in gears 1st to 4th.

I bought a power commander, Akrapovic Dual Exhausts and fender eliminator from these guys and I'm quite happy with their service and prices. I would recommend to give them a shot. Also, they claim they can match or even beat any advertised prices...

Thanks Ducky,
Ordered a set of Smoke lines today, from them...
How do you like the GIPRO? Is it worth the $160?
I do notice the "lag" on the bottom end of things. It might be good to leave it alone... Do you still have that massive surge of power, or it just on tap?
I have a prairie 650 atv that I know kawi had to retard the ignition on also.

get the gipro, the power is just more accessible, and smoother, it doesnt increase hp, just makes it more "on tap?" you still keep the power surge.....go on, do it, you know you want to!

Definitely worth the $160 I know you can get a TRE for around $20 or less (Ivan's) which basically does the same thing but the GIPRO can be switched on/off, Ivan's is always on once installed. I use my bike as a daily ride to work (weather permitting) and those are times I really don't need a TRE, but there are times when I feel a little ---> that's when I turn the thing on (convenience factor) The built in gear indicator is a selling point as well. Sure... you can get a gear indicator for like around $60 but that's all it will do. Gear indicator with a built-in advanced TRE..!!
I can't vouch on how it's going to affect your '05 ZX10R but I know what the results are in an '07 ZX10R:
I ride about 85% - 90% with the TRE off; during those time I turn the TRE on, I definitely notice a difference. The bike acts more responsive/aggressive, which makes sense if that "lag" is no longer there. In comparison to having the TRE off, having it on feels like just a slight turn of the throttle unleashes the ZX10R's full power... (must hold on!!!) TRE on and the Powercommander Fuel Pump Accelerator on unleashes the ZX10R beast...

Will the GIPRO render the stock gear indicator useless like a TRE will? The TRE fools the computer into thinking it is in 5th gear all the time and therefore doesn't retard the timing. Also, I am wondering if you go with a TRE or a GIPRO, it will have to overide the KIMS system.Anybody out there have any thoughts or knowledge on 08's and TRE's.
