will stock sterring damper from 06-07 work on 05?

My '05 was one of the ones that didn't come with the steering damper for some reason, and while I never track the bike and don't intend to, I would like just a little more resistance in the steering. Came across a stock piece from an 06-07 ZX10, will it bolt on and work? I really don't want to drop the bucks for a new one, most of them would be a huge overkill for my purposes. I've heard lots of griping about how the stock damper doesn't do much, so it sounds like it may be just about right for me

Will it bolt up? Anybody know? Cheap as it is, I'd hate to go to the trouble if it isn't going to work on my bike.

Yes it will fit but you'll need the lower triple tree and I think thats it besides the dampener of course. Be a bit of a pain in the a$$ to save a little money if you ask me...

Why would it be a pita, exactly? It's coming off a bike being parted out, so everything required to make it work (if it's possible) should be there, and compared to a new one the cost is peanuts.

The lower has to be changed too? The bikes I've seen them on it looked pretty simple, like what little there was was all right there on top. Then again, I wasn't really looking with the intention of learning anything at the time...

dont waste your time, buy an aftermarket one for the correct year bike, the stock ohlins is a piece of shit, why go thru the aggravation of doing it if it does nothing for you?

So you're telling me that it does absolutely nothing at all? I find that very hard to believe. I'm getting this thing for sixty bucks and a new one is ten times that- all I want is something to offer a little resistance to the front end when I'm coasting along with no hands. Paying the bucks for an aftermarket one just for that would be asinine.

IT WILL WORK!! But you need to take the whole front end off. Plastics, forks top tripple tree, lower tripple= (REPLACE WITH THE 06 LOWER TREE)!!!! All that work and cash for NEXT to nothing= Not worth it to me.....
But to each his own...
