Smog Block off Pictures

here is what you should have left, and what to plug

first pic, is the location of the old plates, nearly filled with JB Weld or Quicksilver or whatever its called where you live.

Then the 2 ports on the carb/throttle bodies which need to be plugged (red caps)

then what should be plugged on the tank. (white cap)

why thank you my brother..

no, putty will not work.. you need to get something that gets rock solid like steel. ( insert penis joke here ) the stuff is cheap , home depot , ace hardware, they all have it... just be damn sure you don't get any inside the small hole which goes into the head. I covered mine with a piece of paper towel then poured in the "quick steel" and let it set up...

I think all you need to do is get yourself a marble and stick it in the hose that goes to the airbox . problem fixed.

actually I can't, cause they are under the HARD stuff... but imagine about a .25" hole or 6mm or so under the outside rear corner of each rectangle pictured, so 4 holes total...

i can see if the manual shows a pic, then I'll scan it in...

Talking

The grey plug is under the airbox, left side, goes into the top plate on the throttle bodies ( look at image from manual, item number 4, page 17-23 ).... yes that black dead weight can be removed completely, look at the pic of the right upper side of bike... its all gone

if you need help tonight, just give me a buzz 602.768.5264

be sure to get the quick setting JB weld... actually if you can find QuickSteel

http://www.hemmingsdiy.co.uk/quickste.htm

it would be better, it starts as a puddy type texture, and sets up quick.... also , rough up the metel/aluminum where you will apply the material, to ensure a good bond, just use some 120grit or somethin..

kdankenb, did you completely remove the smog pump? and if so does it throw any kind of warning light? also, i see the hole for the red hose on the tank plugged, but what do you do with the blue hose reconnect it or leave it loose? what kind of difference did you notice after the mod?
Thanks

Ryan, yes all smog stuff is gone, I do have a warning light, but thats cause my stock exhaust, and fan, and many other things are all gone, the error codes will tell you what the FI light is on for... and yes, as its pictured is how it stays, leave the blue line open, its just a breather for the tank,

I couldn't really say much about difference, I did all this stuff right after I bought it, its a race bike only.

Thanks. i think i will just leave the pump/valve plugged in and tie it to the side just to avoid a potential warning light. And rather than using the JB Weld to fill the ports, can't i just cap off the inlets on the factory plates? I want the mod to be reversible in case i ever need to put the stuff back on.
Thanks

I removed everything... i got no warning light, and i have an aftermarket half system. I left the servo motor in though. as far as differences go, performance and weight savings differences are marginal if that; they're completely unnoticeable in either case. The import thing this mod does is get rid of backfiring for aftermarket exhausts, and the exhaust will now provide an accurate fuel air mixture reading while dyno-tuning.

VERTIGO, did you also remove your secondary butterflies? proceedure?

I am most concerned with getting rid of some of the backfiring because i am running a straight through exhaust.
