So i was talking to the guys at HR motorsports about the backfiring, and they recommended getting smog block off plates. Where are they installed? how to i remove the smog pump? how complicated is this process? any help appreciated!

Don't know if you'd want to remove the system yourself or not. I'm not totally sure how much is involved with it. If it's in the service/repair manual and you think you could do it, go for it. If you don't want to risk it, ask how much HR would do it for, then try to see if you can find someone that will do it for less.

The smog stuff is under the air box, on top of the valve cover. I used an Ivan's kit on mine. Very easy to install. The kits are like $35... It helps with the back firing alot. Mine might pop once in awhile. Where at in PA are you at?

Your way up there... I don't think I could help you. It's pretty simple though, just follow the instructions. I'm south central PA, about 5 mins. from the Maryland line...
