anyone get the newest CycleWorld mag??

The 08 zx10 took top pick as the king of quick from 0 to 180 MPH .. It was a full second quicker than the 08 busa 0 to 180 MPH .The zx10 clocked that 180 in just over a half mile or 880 yards !!! .Top speed clocked in at 184 and change.... ...The zx14 took top MPH at 187 and change with the Busa at 185 ...

The zx10 was behind in the 1/4 mile numbers at a 10.01 @ 150.05 ...The 150.05 MPH trap speed was the highest MPH of all the bikes tested ...The busa was 9.90 @ 147.94 and the zx14 came it at 9.97 @ 146.19 ..Where the zx10 shined was from the 1/4 mile to the 180 MPH mark leaving the other bikes for dead ...

Cycle World stated >There is no better performance -per-dollar vehicle, two wheels or four than the 08 zx10.. For top end madness go green !!!!

No offense to Cycle World (or you) but who buys a ZX-10 to drag? Waste of a motorcycle. Real comparisons about litrebikes are their road course comparisons, imho.

See June '08 Roadracing World or June '08 Sport Rider if you want to read about litrebike shootouts.

Of course the 10 is not a drag bike, but still impressive stats none-the less.

its still nice to be able to look at someone on a Busa, tell them "I'll smoke you" and mean it.

Well I hang out at the drag strip quite a bit with all kinds of different bike people, so here's my opinion on the matter:

I'd say the mag riders were probably not getting the most out of the bikes. I ran 10.10 at 139mph on my ZX12. 10.01 @ 150 mph for the ZX10. With mph like that this bike will go well into the 9's. Regardless of any magazine numbers, go to any local strip and watch the Busa's rule.

As far as the ZX10 not being a good drag bike, that is just ridiculous. There is an AMA Dragbike class for stock 1000 cc bikes. Its all GSXR 1000's and ZX10's and they run as quick as 9.20's! My friend competes in this class on a 'Stock' (bikes can be tuned with stock parts) GSXR 1000 and I've seen him go 9.35 on it.

I encourage everyone to take your bike to your local drag strip. Its WAY harder than most think and it tons of fun.

If you read the article, the Busa and ZX14 both beat the ZX10 in the 1/4 mile by almost a 1/2 second I believe. The ZX10 was the fastest from 0-180 which took about a half mile to reach

Simple really. Wanna rule on a drag strip (equipment wise)? Get a busa or 14. Want to rule on a road course (equipment wise)? Get a litrebike. Hence, my underlying point. Litrebikes are designed and built to be pushed to their limits on a road course. Hell, I've tracked my old 14... but CLEARLY that wasn't it's strong suit. Different tools for different jobs.

I've seen on a couple of mags that the 08 ZX10R walks a fine line of bogging down or wheel spinning/wheelie off the line. That kills the 1/4 times. Judging by the high trap speed there is a LOT more time to gain.

The 08 ZX is scary fast and scary to look at.
