HR1 exhaust is here! for those of you that dont know what im talking about... www.hardrockmotorsports.com look up the ZX10R Riot. Black can, red body. Connects directly to the headers... me and my g/f stripped the bike down today, took tons of pics, but on her camera so the pics will have to wait a day or two. Tomorrow the exhaust gets put on! So for starters... its loud. Loud as fuck. Like, wake up the dead loud. Like, just a few decibals under open headers loud (and i did start it up open headers just to hear it once for kicks and whatnot) (BUT DIDNT KEEP IT RUNNING FOR MORE THEN 15 SECONDS) But worst of all... asking for a noise ordinance ticket loud... But I managed to fix that problem myself. Turns out it has a "variable back preasure adjuster" which changes the shape of the exhaust opening... im not sure how that does for performance or tuning, but I have it shut to the smallest hole and it sounds about in between stock and two bros (roughly)

It backfires like a mofo too... The pipe is SHORT. it connects directly to the headers, it goes headers, maybe about 2 inches of stainless, then the muffler which is about 14" long. Thats it. Comes out near the swingarm... this has done WONDERS as far as center of gravity and handling goes... it feels more stable and is easier to throw around (then again I had almost no gas in the tank when i test rode it ) but I like to think its a bit more nimble... however, i was taking my sister for a spin to the bank today, going on an exit ramp, leaned over too far and scraped it. I was furious... Because I thought the exhaust was too low and I wouldnt be able to take turns like i like to... however upon closer inspection turns out my rear suspension is just really soft... that, and I had a passenger which obviously pushes the rear end down a lot. So I'm going to harden up the shocks... well, i'm going to read up on hardening the shocks (spiffyaid PM'ed) and then see...

As for the backfiring, i'm just going to take it easy and not beat the shit out of it until i can get my hands on a power commander (shouldnt be more than a month) that HR1 will sell me preloaded with a map. Does anyone forsee any possible engine damage that could happen in a month's normal riding w/o one?

Last but not least, it came with a clamp to attach the end of the muffler elsewhere on the bike (i assume the frame) for support. As of right now only the header bolts are supporting the entire exhaust system (which only weighs 6 pounds but hey...) I cant figure out how the clamp goes on. I'm going to call HR about it today. Pics and videos to follow soon!

First of all, there is a bolt that attaches it to the frame, near where the shock mounts, (at the bottom) do you have that in place?
Secondly, the bike is sprung from the factory for a 68kg rider :) is that you?

So it backfires like crazy when engine braking from 3k - 2k rpms... is this bad? will it hurt my engine? i know the only way to fix it is to remap it...

Meh... you and me both. My snapped mirror seriously pisses me off, along with every other imperfection I see on it.
