I dont think a GPS will give you a true MPH reading.

The GPS I used seemed very accurate in comparison to my Truck speedo, I also compared it to another GPS and the speeds were very close. That is the best way I have to check it. Radar would probably be the most accurate.

Holy crap! Are you running the stock tire? That's pretty far off.

yea as a matter of fact I just put a new OEM tire on. I was told that a factory speedo can be up to 10% off wich holds true to my findings.

Yikes! So all those guys who think they're topping out at 186 are actually doing more like 168. Huh.

I have a bone stock 06, live in the high desert LOTS of straight long roads and rutienly take it up in the 160's and it still has plenty left. In fact the front end will climb if I hit a stink bug its still has that much tourque. All you who get scared after 130 just keep riding it youll get used to it. I was scared when I first started twisting it on!

I'm a pilot, we use the GPS to calculate our true ground speed... I would imagine its pretty accurate...

Let me second the GPS accuracy and add that I've done an indicated 187 MPH with stock gears/tire size. Man...That shift light gets annoying!

Yeah, the other day I decided to see how fast it could go in first gear, and that thing was going off way before redline. I wasn't sure what to make of it so I shifted into second up in the high 90's (mph), but I'm not sure I needed to...?

i'm sure you know you can set the shift lite to a high rpm like 13k. i think the stock setting is 11,700 or something like that. I've only banged the limiter once. that was enough for me.

INPUTS
Front Sprocket (Teeth) 17 Stock = 17
Rear Sprocket (Teeth) 42 Stock = 40
Rear Tire Diameter (inches) 25 See notes below

2006 ZX-10R Calculation

Note: To measure tire circumference roll bike and measure the length of one revolution of rear wheel. Then divide measurement by 3.1416 to calculate diameter.

I have had my 06 read 189mph but I have gone down one in the front

If your scared to go fast you should sell your bike and buy a 600 or a gsx-r and get a mohawk

184 on the straight at firebird main racetrack. Before grabbing the binders for a 2nd gear left, definatley not topped out though.. would like to get to miller and hit that straight, it would probably hit redline there..

I triple, or quadruple the fact of GPS giving speed inputs. Unless you live in tunnels IT IS the best way to get your speed input.

GPS is spot on. Go by one of the road signs that have a K band radar in it that gives you your speed and tells you "slow down". Compare it with your GPS. Both my Radar Dectector GPS and my GPS lap timer are spot on.
