How I spent my summer...so far

First, there was a trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It rained all the way down and back and rained pretty much for two days in a row. I took more pics of bikes parked at the motel than in action

Then there was a trip to Montana, with an overnight stop and ride in The Black Hills. First, The Badlands

The next day, we toured the monuments; Crazy Horse:

Mount Rushmore

What happens when you let some photoshop maniac have your pics.

Rode the Needles Highway among other picturesque pavement

Spearfish Canyon Rd.

And, of course, Devil's Tower:

Looks fun. Devil's Tower, Badlands, Mt Rushmore brings back some memories.
I think we were there in 2002 too.

Nice! I don't think I've ever seen that many of those sexy ZZR1200s together.

Then there was the Smoky Mountain adventure. It all got going on The Tail of the Dragon after a 450-mile day. Whupped my ass!

Caught some rain, but still got some miles in.

Richard Russel Parkway

Cherahola Skyway

The 2 Ducs were actually the slowest guys in the group.

Had lunch at the world famous TWO Resort.

My buddy Mike got the lust for a Ducati so later, he bought one just like this:

Then there were the race meets; Springfield Mile Memorial Day;

My buddy Jimmy, with Chris Carr:

It takes all kinds....

AMA Superbike Races- Heartland Park Topeka;

Stuntas Rule!

Eventual winner Larry Pegram with Earl Hayden

Kevin Schwantz. More on him later

Some of our group

Track action

Pegram, all alone in front

We had Texas-style fajitas, cooked up by my buddy Shotgun, in a Wok he fashioned from a cultivator disc:

Then, of course, the Indy MotoGP:

We parked on the backstraight;

The Doctor;

Nicky, qualifying;

Dovisosio falling in practice. In the GP, he hounded Hayden but couldn't pass.

Marco Melandri at a buck seventy five on the infield backstraight;

The Rizla Suzukis, warming up. At least they looked good.

Kevin Schwantz again, this time on his '93 World Championship RGV Suzuki 500 2-stroke. First time I'd heard one since Laguna Seca '88

First-lap freighttrain. Things would soon change;

Rossi chasing Pedrosa, First the Doctor would fall (right in front of us), then Dani.

Lorenzo all alone after the top two guys crashed out;

Nicky, running fifth, which would turn into third;

With Dovososio hot on his tail and his thirsty Duc running in lean mode, Nick was still able to hold him off;

Rossi circulates in last place on a cracked-up bike. He soon retired to the pits;

Better times before the fall;

Colin Edwards, on his way to fifth place;

Fastest guy on the track, Dani Pedrosa. He came from a half-lap down after falling to finish tenth;

Hayden celebrates his first podium finish in a coon's age;

Magnificent scenery, looks like a great all round adventure.

This is one of your pictures that was missing in your thread.

I've got a three-shot panorama of Kootenai Falls. I'm gonna try to get some photoshop expert to put them together. This goose got nervous and jumped in the rapids and actually made it to the other side.

We also had to wait for the wild jackasses to clear Iron Mountain Road in the Black Hills.

Thanks. It was a truckload of fun. Hung with some folks I've known for years and met some new ones. All were great to hang, ride and drink with.

Other than the Montana trip, which was a week sandwiched by two weekends, all the rest were weekends or long (3 or 4 day) weekends.
