Chain Lube
My bike always gets messed up with chain lubricant all over the rear wheel, swing arm, left turn signal, license plate, etc.
Is this a fact of life or am I doing something wrong? I’m using the “Maxima racing oils Chain–guard Crystal-Clear Synthetic” brand chain lubricant. I believe I’m not applying too much, if I apply less the chain wont get lube everywhere. Is there a better brand?
(Too bad I got a whole box of that stuff!)

Lube the inside of the chain, not the outside. Do it when the chain is hot so everything is expanded, and it can soak down into the important parts. Once it's cool get some chain cleaner on a rag and wipe off all the excess. You may still get a spit or two on the first ride, but if you're using decent stuff it shouldn't be bad at all.

First off, this thread is beating a dead horse...
But, I use Bel-Ray Super Clean chain lube and it hardly flings any lube at all. Even when I apply it heavily. You let it sit for 15-20 minutes to dry and it does a great job of staying put.

I'm not sure "beating the dead horse" is appropriate.
I mean, I'm sure it works, but whereas this is asking a question that's been asked before, I think of

as more relevant when bringing up something that's been argued about extensively but will never be settled, like who makes the best tires or what pressure they should be run at.
As technology changes, I for one don't mind seeing this stuff come up again and again (unless it's just trolling to instigate). For example, last year people who had been singing praises to PJ1 Blue Label chain lube for years were jumping ship to ProGold MFR. This year you don't even hear about MFR anymore, it's all about WD40 or Kerosene and Dupont chain wax. Sure, an old topic could be hunted up and resurrected for this, but what difference does it make as long as everyone is playing nice? I just like seeing things moving around here.

And to be honest with you, if I haven't seen a topic in a while, it doesn't bother me either. It's when the same basic topic is posted 2-3-4-5 times in one week...that's the only time it really bothers me (except for "which tire is best"...that always bugs the hell out of me).

What gun do you carry?
It's amazing how fast some of these threads disappear down to the bottom of the page. I admit I don't look at every thread and miss quite a few. It's when someone starts a new gun thread and the other one is still on the active topics page.

What kind of gun should I carry if I have new tires? And what pressure should I run those tires at if I have the jumper mod? And how often should I change my oil if I have the jumper mod and carry a .45? Should I use synth or dyno if I decide to use a smaller caliber? And what is the best tire to use if I use synth, carry a .45 and don't do the jumper mod? Thanks

Logic may say that you should use Dino oil if you carry a .45 and Synth if you carry a 9mm! See; .45 is an old caliber and 9mm is relatively new so, not to go against logic or maybe even karma, you should carry the matching time based combination. ( .45 Dino oil / 9mm Synthetic oil )
For example I sometimes carry a 9mm and sometimes a .38 Colt 1911, it’s not a .45 but it basically is the same gun, so I use semi - synth!

Just joking, guys!

Makes sense. Now I just need to figure out what tires to buy and what pressure to run in them since I already have the jumper mod.
Sorry we jacked the thread there for a minute. Hard to resist a lil fun when it presents itself. kinda like that whack a mole gopher bash game.
I'm lucky, I have a chain with "x" rings instead of "o" rings. From what I understand, the "x" rings hold lube/grease between the links so I just hose my chain down with WD40 to clean off debris and grit and just wipe it down. I wonder if you could get an "x" ring chain for your bike.

That's what we're here for.
Well, that, and ball busting. I think this topic has a good mix of both at this point. Mission accomplished!
