'01 zx6r oil light indicator issue

hi all,

i am having an issue with my oil light indicator flashing on for a quick second and then turning off. the story is, if i am riding and jump up to 100 km/hr (revving around 7000 rpm) in 3rd gear and then i let off the throttle and down shift into 2nd gear around 70-75 km/hr, the light flashes on and then turns off as the rpm and speed decrease. what are the possible reasons for this occuring? has anyone else experienced this problem? PLEASE HELP!

subsequent searches to find a related thread were unsuccessful, but i apologize if one already exists.

Ignore it. If it comes on and stays on, there's a problem. If you can't stand it, disconnect it. Why do you think they're called "idiot lights"?

Are you sure you're full up on oil? It kinda sounds like a pressure issue which could be from low oil level, clogged sump or the pump is going out. But I would check the oil level first.

i attempted further trials (maybe stupid of me) and the problem persisted. i realized however, that the light only comes on when the clutch is being held down to downshift (and while the engine is revving in the powerband). During the worst, when i was breaking hard the bike shut off on me.

i just want to add that there are absolutely no problems when i ride below the powerband (under 6000 rpm) and all oil levels are ok.

lastly, how much would i be risking if i were to ride the bike to get it checked out by a specialist?

You said it only comes on over 6k. So keep it under 6k on the way to the tech.
