how oil does it really take ZX11 boys

OK...ITS LAUGH TIME but here goes. .......How much oil do you really put into the ZX11 (99') crank that includes the cooler....The Clymer says 3.2 litres which is about 3 3/8 quarts.....but after a rebuild (dry) it seems the crank got drunk on almost 5 quarts.....IS THAT ABOUT RIGHT OR IS THERE WAY TOO MUCH OIL?.....AND heres the kicker,,, would that affect any shifting problems...before I drain the crank and think about pulling the side covers to check the shift linkage for defects...

(im dredding pulling the motor 7 days after installing)

Thanks
KW

After draining and installing a new filter, pour in around 3 1/2 qts, start it up and let it run for a couple of minutes. Then shut it off, let the oil settle and check the sight glass. Top up until the level nearly fills the sight glass. 11s live longer if they are slightly overfilled. After a rebuild, put in however much it takes to get to this level using the same method. May take a bit more after being completely dry to fill all the nooks and crannies where oil always remains in a normal situation.
