Question Storage fluids?

I was just wondering.. I'm gonna be storing my '94 ZX9R, however it's going to be in a non-heated shed.. I just wanted to know.. Do I have to change the prestone or anything before popping it in for it not to freeze? First winter storing it..

Thanks
Cory

Check your ant-freeze with a tester. It's like 5 buckes. Squirt some oil down the spark plug holes to lube the cylinders. Remove the battery and store it in the warm. Put Stabil in the fuel. If carbed drain the carb fuel bowels.

Also , run the bike until it sputters to a stop with the fuel petcock closed to drain the carbs .

All the above suggestions plus I personally like changing the oil and oil filter before storing so that it has nice clean oil in the engine for winter hibernation.

So during the winter with all the condensation the oil gets ruined?

My Points/Reasons:

1. Given a choice to store my bike with dirty oil with all the by-products of internal combustion versus nice clean fresh oil...I vote for nice clean oil.

2. Condensation in the engine happens when a bike is started up and heats up a little bit and then shut down right after. So, basically if you don't "routinely" start up your bike during the course of winter storage to "warm it up" then you limit the the amount of condensation in the engine.

When spring arrives, then you can get back on your bike without having to worry about and oil change right away and just welcome a new season of riding ASAP
