The proper way to check the oil level is to put the bike level in other words off the stand and in a staight position as u would to take off for a ride, from the look of it in the pictures the oil level is just fine it should be between the two lines marks where the oil glass is but as a precautionary mesure I would change the oil and filter put sinthetic in as its just a few bucks and could benefit u and the bike in the long run.As far as the ticking noise u need to be more specific as to where is coming from like engine bottom ,top or otherwise.

Is it ok to go a little extra on the oil level? Mine is even at the upper line. When the bike is running you don't see any oil line at all. I don't see how it is bad but could you clarify?

Mine is at the top of the sight glass with the oil hot and bike level . The manual says 4 litres with an oil filter change but be careful as mine took about 3.5 and it was full .

I put 4 quarts in mine as specified and oil is at the top of the glass (hot)
