Theres no such thing as a stupid question

Purchased a "08" ZX6R Ninja last Saturday and have a question about the chain. Since my bike is only a few days old the chain looks clean and unlubricated is this something I should worry about. My friend's bike a "07" CBR has its chain lubed to the point its looks like jelly, should I lube my chain or is that an issue they will see at my first service appoinment when I hit 400 miles?

I always look for "Tefloned" chain lubes they really do make a difference in my experience, usually i go for motorcycle orientated chain lubes but thats mainly because i look for greases/waxes with as little "sling" as possible to try and keep the bike clean of chain grease which can sometimes fling all over the place when fresh.

And yes please grease those chains regularly, whenever we see a dry chain with little or only old grease on it we grease them but we also translate that as the owner not caring or neglecting the bike...whenever we see a bike with a caring owner we don't mind spending more than the billed time taking care of it during a service or repair job....

20 dollars buys 4 quarts of mobil 1 synthetic at Wal Mart and labor here is 75.00 an hour, although the mechanics are fresh out of school and wet behind the ears
