Newbie looking for first bike

Hello I'm a newbie looking into buying my first bike and have done a bit of research on the ninja 500r. I'm looking for something used, have looked at either a 96 or 97 500. My question is what a fair price would be, currently looking at a 97 500r with 38,000 what has just been through a full service, and is still a daily driver, making me assume it's fairly reliable. Just wondering what kind of price I should be looking for on a bike like this would be?

not sure about Canada.
im guessing bikes go for cheaper up there.
but in Washington state.
id say, 1200 to 1500
