New member, first time owner. Ninja ZX-6
Well, I went and bought my first bike, and I'm new too the forums so I would figure I would throw it up and see what you all thought.
Its a 1993 Ninja ZX6 with just over 10k miles on it.
Picked it up off a buddy of mine for 1k, and it does need a little work.
Right now it needs a front tire, and front brakes for functionality.
Body wise it was layed over twice, once on each side. There is body damage that someone tried too repair, but unfortunately they did not know that fiberglass doesn't like to bond to plastic.
I have on the way-
Front windshield fairing
Gas tank
Left rear fairing
These pieces are missing chunks and I can't repair them.
The rest of the bike I can work with, I've been doing body work/fiberglass/plastic repair/painting since I was about 15. So fixing some broken mounting brackets, sanding and painting the bike will be fairly easy.
Plan will be flat black front too back with metallic silver badges.
On too some pictures, how it sat when i picked it up. Right now its stripped down minus the front fairing and tail fairings.

Ya, it runs fine. There MIGHT be a slight oil leak, all the residue on the motor by the shifter could be from one. I cleaned all that up today, and I should see signs of leaking in the next couple of days if there is one, but the fluid levels check out just fine, they just need to be changed too be on the safe side.
It gets kinda hard to start in the morning when it gets cold. Choke broke off when it was layed over on the left side.
BUT
That will be taken care of when the front tire and brakes get put on next week. Along with all fluids checked, changed, and a full tune up, and anything else addressed that happens to come up.
It has plenty of power and acceleration. It picks the front tire up with ease =] won't hold it up though.
I'll be happy too see what she will do once it gets a good look over.
Parts should be here Wednesday, prep Thursday, paint Friday, polish, buff, and re-assembly Saturday. Thats if things go as planned..

Had a little bit of a set back....
The only key too the bike broke of in the ignition and dropped down.
And too top things off, the bike is in steering lock, and I can't get it too turn or anything using the other half of the key.
Locksmith should be out this afternoon to take a shot at getting it out, and then cutting me a new key after I go too the local dealer and get some blanks.
I'm really hopeing this works, because a new ignition switch with keys, gas cap, and seat lock is 270 bucks...

Good news.
Local Locksmith got the key out. Unfortunately NO ONE has the right blank to cut the key, not even the dealer (are dealer here isn't very helpful...) but I found a guy that cut me a temp from a scrap key to get the seat off and gas cap off too work on it, and hes going to order my blanks when he can get an order together.
Which leads me too ask this. Flat black or gloss? I wasn't going to bother with shooting any clear seeing as how I already had some black, but this gives me extra time before I can ride the bike at all.
thoughts? the emblems will still be silver.

Sounds like you're doing her up right. Glad to hear the locksmith could help you out. And I don't know about the paint, flat black is cool looking and easy to touch up if/when it gets scratched but a good gloss black looks nice and clean...

Thought I would show some progress before I get back out and get at it some more.
Bike is stripped minus the gas tank and front fender (bike still in wheel lock and can't get to the left bolt with it still locked..)
CA glue isn't wanting to bond too well too the plastic so I picked up some SEM bumper repair at the paint store which works perfect. I'm trying to do what I can not too order any epoxy resin as it can get expensive.
Now I'm waiting on my nose fairing, left tail fairing, and gas tank too get here. Hopefully they will be in by Friday so Primer can be layed Saturday, and paint Sunday. I decided to go with a single stage gloss black, which I will be picking up tomorrow after I get paid along with some epoxy primer.
Progress.
Whats left of the left tail fairing lol.
Bike stripped
Some pieces in flat white because I got tired of sanding haha
The new silver decals most likely won't be in till next week. Along with the blanks for my new key. So paint is the focus right now.

Got some more updates.
My left rear tail fairing came in the mail today. Went ahead and patched it. Hopefully the gas tank and nose fairing will be in tomorrow so I can paint. '
"Newerish" fairing to the old busted up one.
I noticed there was a chunk missing out of the turn signal hole, which I saw on the auction on ebay. I can mold that with the tail light in, BUT the guy failed to mention the mounting brackets were broken off the panel, so off I went to cut up the old panel and mount them in the new red one.
Glue curing on the brackets and cracks.
The glue is SEM bumper repair, which is turning out to be wonderful. I tacked the brackets in with CA glue just enough to hold it in place, then coated it with the bumper repair. Stuff works really good.
Unfortunately its been a challenge too find parts for the bike that are in good condition, hence why I've been buying cracked, or slightly damaged pieces, but they are hole pieces so I can work with them.
I mean, a brand new fairing, and my repaired one are going to be damaged about the same in a lay over. It's just I know where my panels are going to break at, hahaha.

Thanks!
Lol, it's a small town in the Southwest corner of Arkansas.
The state line between Texas and Arkansas split the town, hence the Texark part.
the "ana" part of the name comes from the Louisiana State line being less then 30 minutes south of the city limits.
The road that is on the state line is named "Stateline Ave." which is the place too be on Friday and Saturday night. Has all the gas stations, food places, walmart, blockbuster, etc...

Green SS front brake lines
2002 GSXR 1000 front calipers (direct swap, bumps from 4 piston to 6)
I'm forgetting things here and there...but here are some pics over the last month or 2. It's only taken this long because of the weather being horrible.
