Question Replace the front brakes on my 01 ZX6R

Whe i was down there looking that the leaking fork i also took a look at the pads through the calipers and noticed that they're almost down to them metal! I've replaced the pads on a civic, 3.2tl, and a lancer so i what i'm doing on a car but never tried on a bike. Is it pretty much the same thing? Do i need to raise the bike to replace the pads? I don't know how to or the equipement to raise the front or rear end of the bike. Please let me know if it sounds like i can handle the brake job. Thanks.
P.s. Where's the best place to get my new pads.

not sure where the best place to buy pads in america is but the change is easy!

you dont have to take the wheels off if you have enough clearance to unbolt the calipers and get the off past the rims!

Should be a tin cover plate held by a couple of screws. An "R" clip and a pin to remove.

yep very straight forward....... follow the usual break in for new pads and you will be fine.

Calliper compressing??

When you compress the calliper is it the same a a car? remove the master cylinder, cap and then press the calliper pistons in? Pump the brakes and go?
I would asume so, but this is my first bike brake job.

yeah, it's the same, just remember to put a towl under and around the front brake fluid resivour. it might overflow when you put the new pads in and you go to widen the gap for the rotor to fit. close the lid, pump the brakes a few times to build the pressure back and your done. if your fluid is dark i would recomend flushing out the system with new fluid. DOT fluid (3 &4) sucks up moisture from the air which causes it to get dark.
