Unhappy O Rings Coming off the Chain

My Orings were starting to come off my chain when I bought my bike from this guy because he didnt have proper slack in the chain (Too Loose). Since I've fixed it I've only seen about 3 O Rings come off. I lube my chain every 200 miles or so. Is this really bad should I go get a new chain? My bike now has a little over 16K miles.

Hang a 20lb weight on the bottom run of the chain to stretch the top run.
Measure 20 links pin to pin. ie 1st to 21st
Standard is 12.50" to 12.53"
Service limit is 12.7"

If o rings are "falling out" it's time for a new chain whether or not it's stretched.

theoretically the chain should have lasted you another good 10-15K miles or so but if you have been to late to save it then there is mothing you can do!

Just remember new chain means new sprokets as well (generally) as you will just shorten the life of the new chain. The spokets have already worn in against the old chain and will just grind against the new one with all there imperfections. (it sucks I know)

Your chain is done. Since you need to change sprockets too, now is the time to change gearing if you want. I wouldn't suggest going to an "acceleration kit" 520 because they don't last very long. Use some chain wax and apply it when the chain is hot. Like after a ride. Get a quality brand chain too. Junk chains last 1/3 as long and cost almost as much as a D.I.D.
