Power Commander wiring help!!

Hi all,

I am posting on behalf of my friend, nice guy but an idiot some times :-)

Last week we went on a road trip and bought a 2000 zx12.

Stunning bike, 8000 mile from new, polished everything, wheels, swing arm forks the list goes on.

Full akrapovic exhaust, power commander.

This bike is in green and looks gorgeous. I ride a 2008 fireblade (boo hiss i hear :-) ) and i really do like this zx12!!

So we buy the bike, FI light is on, chap says its to do with the PC map and has always been on... hmm, anyway bike to nice to pass on so we buy it.

Friend reports that after 9K the bike has no power so we put the bike into diag mode and work out there is a faulty air sensor. Replace that and all is well. :-)

How ever before we do that my mate decides to remove the power commander to see if that is faulty.

This is the problem, he has cut the wiring loom on the PC !!!Idiot!!! So I/we now have a PC with the two plugs for the loom and ecu disconnected from the wires of the PC.

After slapping my friend around the head many times I have managed to connect all the wires back up expect a couple.

I wonder if anyone can help?

I have 5 black and grey wires left. the wire is black with a grey mark.

Both of the plugs, 1 for loom and 1 for ECU have two of these black/grey wires coming out of 1 on the pins on both, the PC has just 1 black/grey wire coming from it. (i will add pics tomorrow)

So if 2 of the 5 wires pass the connection to each of the plugs and two wires connect the PC i have just one wire left. Strange...

What i need, if anyone is willing to help, is a picture of a ZX12 Power commander wires.

Basically my mate cut through the wires on the PC and i just need to see another to get it all back together.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

It's a PC3

Regards.

Mike

I am just uploading a video of the PC to youtube.

Will post the link when it's done.

I'll PM you my email address. You can't attach pictures directly. Use a free app like photobucket and copy the image tags and then post those here.

Which Powercommander is it? PC II, PC III, or PC III USB? I have a 2000 ZX12 and I'm willing to help if I can.

I will be in my garage tomorrow morning and I will get you the pictures you need. And yes, I can view the youtube video. I'm assuming your mate took several shots to the head as a youngster.....?

Hi,

Thankyou very much.

My friend is a good guy but the logic he used in this situation did amaze me. Based on 3 possible options, disconnect PC and leave on bike, cut plastic boot or cut PC, well he chose the most expensive by far

Here's a wiring diagram I did of my PC III's wire harness:

You can also view it here:

After looking at mine and viewing your video I think the U.S. and U.K. versions might be different. If they are then the computers are probably different.

Glad to help. I just wish it were more useful to you. Keep us informed of how you fix it.
Try this site:

http://kawasakiworld.com/zx-12r/

I'm a member there as well and I know there are more than a few U.K. members on that forum. Dave Potter is on that forum too. He is a Brit and probably your best bet to help figure this out.

If you do get all the wires figured out,how about doing a diagram for yours like I did for mine? It won't help either of us today but it might help somebody else down the road.

Good luck.

You're welcome,PVC. I didn't want to step on your toes, so please don't think I did, my bike was all apart so it literally took seconds to get the PC III off and start the wire tracing.

We're all in this world together. It really makes no sense to me as to why people want to be a$$h0!es to each other when it's so much easier and better for everyone to help out when you can. Someday I might need help and you might be the guy that can help me.
No worries at all!! Just a full week of late nights.

I was actually feeling bad that I said I would look at mine to help out and had no time to do it since I posted up.
