Maintain Question.

Sorry for noob questions, but i'm pretty new to the whole bike's world. I'm planning to get a 250r as a starter bike then move up to zx600r after awhile. I just want to know what is the basic maintain on those bikes? like oil change, tires, does it have to be 91 octane? and what else do i need to do for maintain on a bike? do I need to do it every 3000 miles? please let me know. thank you.

If you plan to do your own maintenance, the first thing you should do is get a shop manual. All the maintenance intervals, capacities, lubrication and fuel specs as well as any other facts you need to know will be between the covers.
