KAWASAKI ZX9R 01 wont start....

Hey guys,

Im new to this forum but i need some advice. I'm currently a student and dont have much mechanical knowledge but with some help im willing to try and fix my baby back together again.
I bought it from a friend (he left for germany) for $500! he crashed it and needed new fairings and didnt want to bother with it so he sold it to me. It has been in his garage for about a year without being runned
The bike at first did not start. i got the carbs cleaned by a mechanic.
Once the carbs were cleaned it ran well! So fast and powerful! the gas was a bit low so i decided to fill up the tank.
after filling the tank up, i went to my brothers house to show off my bike. it turned the gas to the "off" position. after i got back on and rode home. forgot it was on the "off" position and the bike died.
i put it on to the "on" posistion and the bike started after two tries and i rode it home.
the next day i went to go ride my bike and the bike would not start
all i would hear is a clicking sound of the starter.
I called the mechanic and he thinks that the "flow" or "float" pins might have broken off.
the mechanic was asking 500 to fix the bike. i currently dont have that kind of money and so i would like to try and fix it myself
the bike has been sitting in my garage for about 6 months now.
can anyone give me any ideas on what i need to work on?
i know i need to clean the carbs, get new chain but thats about it.
thank you!

try charging the battery, take the battery to auto zone and get it checked, if it's fried and is brand new, take it back to where you got it and get it exchanged if possible, start basic, clicking usually means not enough juice
