Lowering zx12 pros/cons

I was thinking of lowering my zx12. its just a bit to tall in the saddle, and I thought a set of lowering links set to the 1.5" setting would do the trick. I am guessing I will have to drop the front forks down the same amount to balance the ride. the forks have a clean finish at the top, then a rough surface that extends to where the forks get bigger. I think if I drop the front to where the rough finish starts then i should be about equal. has anyone lowered their bike and if so what are the pros and cons

I had a 14 prior that I had lowered front and rear. I am not sure how your front forks look, but you should e able to get an inch and a half out of them. Make sure your take exact measurements of both forks. and lower one side at a time until you reach your desired height. You may just consider shaving the seat first. That way you dont have to worry about suspension geometry. Hope this helps ya, and welcome to the forum.

like Willie said don't eye ball it use a measuring device of some kind if you drop the forks and put on a lowering link you will change the geometry some but you should be ok just take it ez when you first change it till you are use to how it steers

i lowered mine 1.5 in the rear and 3/4 inch on the forks.works pretty good.i raised the rear back up and left the front alone and it handles great.can pretty much get up with the 1000s,not quite but the road has to be really twisty and the have to work hard to stay ahead.
