How to change oil?

Sorry everyone for such a newb question but I just picked up a 95 ZX7 and would like to change the oil in it. Does this require removal of the fairing(s)?

Also what is the best weight of oil to use?

check under your bike to see where the oil drain is. more that likely you might have to remove a fairing. as for the oil its up to you i am running full racing synthetic in mine now and i love it.

just google it up and you will find videos and posts galore on it.

here is a quick one

look at your manual. Mine says 5W30 MOTORCYCLE oil, since it has a certain blend and additives for your bike. I have to remove the left and right fairing so I would assume yes on your. But, like flyingwarrior said, there are tons of how to oil changes around.

I don't have a manual but I got the Kawasaki 10W-40 SJ oil per the recomendation of the parts guy at my local dealer. I pulled both fairings and replaced the oil already. Fingers crossed.

I have another question. How high should the oil level be in the little check window be? By the oil fill hole it says 3.5 Liters which is exactly what I put in. When I angle the bike straight the highest reading I get is in the middle. Should it be at the top of the window?
