better than t-cut??

Hi,

I have recently bought a zx6r and am totally in love with it!

however on the silver frame it looks like someone has used some dodgy cleaner or something, there are kind of drip marks
I tried to T-CUT it out but it had no effect,, can anyone recommend anything?

someone said about wet dry before, but im worried about screwing it up completly!

Thanks

Toby

Toby why not give a good alloy cleaner a try, I think Tcut is crap for alumininium, obviously works better on painted stuff.

Not saying this will work for this staining but you could try vinegar in warm water with some baking soda,Vim Ajax any of those powdered floor cleaners you might have under the sink.

its NOT dirty its STAINED.... really nothing ya can do other than redo the clear/finish.... and not use purple power around your alum./paint again.... :(
if ya do figure out how to dull it/remove it let us know cause ive never found anything to fix my mistakes like that...

I agree with the Purple power info.. I FUBAR'd my rims with that.. luckilly u cant tell unless u get right up to em but man that is depressing.. 09 bike and made a rookie mistake like that. looks to melike it is stained like said above. It looks like the chemicals have prolly stained thru the clear and possibly the paint all the way to metal.. i think of it like this: if u ever touch bare stock and then let it sit without wiping it and come back a week later u will have rust in the pattern of ur fingerprint.. kind of along those lines. good luck tho man.

I looks to me like chemical stain like brake fluid which if so would have penetrated the clear coat which is a real can of worms. You could use a paint stripper to remove the clearcoat and then polish out any remaining damage. If you didn't replace the clearcoat, you'd be constantly polishing the frame. If it were me, kinda of a spendthrift when it comes to my bikes, I'd strip down to the frame and have a shop dip the frame to remove the clearcoat like in preparation for chroming and then recoat. But that's going to be bucks not to mention all the bearing and holes in the frame that have to be protected, repaired, and worried about. It might be possible to strip just the affected areas and then recoat by spraying but you'd want to spend a lot of time masking other areas. You can't blend the clearcoat so you'd have to go to the nearest seam at least.

Thumbs up

sounds crazy till ya think about it......but i use carpet cleaner on EVERYTHING! carpet cleaner is for ...stains... and thats what you have! it works great! i found this out by accident (another story for another time)
i buy the cheap stuff from dollar general......not the aerosol, but the manual spray bottle is what i get...i've used it for a few years on nitro rc's, my boat, all my cars inside and out, and my bike... it hasnt hurt my stuff yet!!!!!!! for tough spots use a scotch pad (like the ones you use for doin' dishes....
keep water in supply while you do this...the cleaner wont stain bit when it dries it leaves an annoying white residue you will have to scrub off later, so just spray it off as you work...

if that dont work........POLISH IT......lol
