Oil Light Staying On

I have an 89 600 R. I just finished an engine rebuild and when the bike starts, the oil light stays on. The oil level in the window is at the top mark. I am hoping it is an electrical problem. Any opinons?

Is it noisy? meaning does it sound like oil is in the system? Did you fill the oil filter with oil? Maybe the system needs a burp. Can you pull off the filter and crank the motor and see if oil is flowing?
Hopefully it was just the electrical switch

Is the oil level in the window at the top mark when the engine is running or when it's off?... If it's at the top level when your engine is running, then you probably don't have any oil flowing!... Most likely a faulty/defective oil pump.... Even new oil pumps can sometimes be defective!... If the oil level in the window is low or non-existent when the engine is running, then your problem is electrical problem!... Check to make sure that you don't have a faulty oil pressure sending unit (switch), and make sure that all your electrical connections are hooked up!... Let us know how it all goes when you figure it out!... Someone else might have the same problem, and benefit from your solution!... Good Luck!

I think dbarron is missing
It's useless to keep posting guesses here unless we get some feedback
