Thumbs down Possible transmission problems?

so i have searched for a good 10 min for anything on the topic besides the missing gear threads. to no avail.

the problem

There is a loud clicking/popping sound on the chain side of the bike. ONLY during hard deccel in 3rd gear and lower. Im thinking my front sprocket is either loosing teeth or ground down pretty good. but wouldnt it also pop under hard accelration? so my next guess is mabey the transmission.. but again wouldnt it affect my acceleration also? Anyone have a clue as to what it could be.

The sound is like that of the chain skipping teeth on the rear sprocket if any of you know the sound thats what im talking about.. only on the front sprocket.. i think. It changes gears fine.. engages well and all that good poo.. it only pops under hard deccel or downshifting in the lower 3 gears.

any input would be appreciated.

so start there and check the chain/sprockets.... then pull front sprocket and make sure the bearing is good where the countershaft rides etc...

My 06 zx6 is doing the same thing but only in 1st gear at the moment. When you close the throttle does it deccel in sort of stages (not smooth) where it feels like the power is being turned off and on and it is trying to lock up????? I took it to a dealer today and they didn't have a clue what was wrong with it. I'm trying another dealer on friday so i'll keep you posted

check the output shaft bearing. you don't want it to break.

Haha ok so this is the problem i was having... also this is why you shouldnt change one sprocket at a time. I went out for a ride.. fully knowing my popping sound problem but i was about to take it to the shop the next day if i couldnt figure it out. so i went to my fav wheelie spot and i popped a few stand ups out. well i get to the last one before i was gonna head home (( 2 min ride )) and boom.. i clutch it up, im up on one and the motor starts revving like crazy (( im in the balance point so i didnt bring the wheel down just pulled in the clutch )) let off the throttle and reached for my foot brake. i pull off to the side of the road and my chain is hangin.. im like FUCK! i broke my chain.. nope it simply came off due to this horrid picture im about to post up. chain is actually still good and rear sprocket is still new so im going to get a renthal -1 front sprocket and keep on truckin.

you need chain/sprockets at the SAME TIME.... the parts where a patter to each other... use a new part and it wears permaturely from odd ball wear patterns....
