03 ZX6R Revving Problems

Alright,
Ill Start off by saying that i am new to this Forum and that i hope someone can help me out. I have a 03 zx6r and the bike wont let me rev past 8,000 rpms in any of the gears. When im riding and i get up to 8000 it acts like theres a rev limiter on it and just stays there. I bought a full system and power commander hoping that it would help but it hasnt. I figure its a air/fuel ratio problem but i dont know how i could fix that. I downloaded a map on powercommander.com but it didnt fix the problem. When i bought the bike it had been dropped on the left side by the previous owner and its missing the Fuel Evap System which i think might have something to do with the fact that its not getting the right mixture of air and fuel. If anyone could help that would be great.
Thank You.

Hi mate, I have the same problem with my 2003 model. Its an internmittent problem that comes and goes. I have had my bike set up on a dyno and the fuelling adjusted but it has started to do the same again. There could be a problem with the breather valve in the fuel filler cap as we found that the was a vacuum forming in the tank. As a test I have a small piece of lockwire breaking the seal on the filler cap and so far (we only did this yesterday) it is running ok.
Will post again with more news once have spent and afternoon riding.

got an 05 ninja that does that at 10k rpms. sounds like its on a rev limit, i ride a gixxer6 and it did the same thing when i left an injector unplugged after PCIII install, so i think it might be an injector problem. all fuses are good and no visible shorts what could be causing these problems

Sounds like you have a fuel problem like ninja 365 was saying you could have a vacuum forming in your gas tank if the fuel cap is not venting properly, you may also want to check your fule pump it may be going bad and is no longer abel to keep up the demand for fuel at that RPM

Revving Problems.

Hi Guys,

Have just stripped the bike down and checked all the wiring and connectors to see if anything was loose or unplugged as still have the problem at 9000rpm. Only thing I could find was an earth wire that wasn't attached so will check with the local dealer to see if they can help and help me see where it goes. Have spoken to a lot of people about this and no one has a simple answer.

Just something to compare with the other peoples with the problem, do you all have a Power Commander fitted? - Could this be bad firmware?

Joe.
