Maybe you have an Idea?

Here is the deal I am a fairly new rider, first sport bike I have an 02 zx6r, and my question is when take off and go through first and go to second it seems I hit neutral and awful lot and let go of the clutch and it revs haha and I look like an idiot. is there a mod I can do to prevent this or is it just rider experience and I got to shift harder up? Please don't bust my balls about it. Advice is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about making any mods to help with this. A shift kit will be far more useful to you if you were going to be doing some racing. Just make a conscious effort to pull that shift lever all the way up before letting the clutch our again. Soon, this glitch will be a thing of the past. More seat time on your bike and you will get a better feel for her. Welcome to the forum. Keep the shiny side up!

Adjust the shift lever down to help with a full, sure shift.

I agree sometimes all you need to do is move down the shift lever and you'll shift better. When it's set higher your not makeing it all the way it to the gear.

i have an 07 zx6r and i had the same problem... when i was cruising it seemed like the gears just fell into place but when i went hard i would do the same thing from first to second... it can be dangerous if you are pulling out onto a main road with traffic... i just had to make a more concious effort to make sure i shifted fully and it just becomes natural
