Cool oil consumption!

yeah i have a 05 zx6r 636 and its in absolutely mint condition and has been kept pampered with all the goodies, i bought this second hand from an older gentleman who kept it this way..

now i have a question about the oil, first off he used the kawi synthetic 10-40 brand at about 3500 k' interval changes, now he did an oil change for me about 300 k's before i bought it off of him and i have currently put on about 2200 km's (2500 k total), i check everything out before every ride and have noticed the oil was down a little in the site glass, i had to add about 150-200 ml to get it back to around where i remembered it was when i first got it....

my main question is that i was wondering if this is normal consumption, because i on normal operation i notice no oil burnoff or smell. and im assuming this is just due to breakdown of the viscosity of the oil due to heat and friction?...can somebody please fill me in cause i am new to this and i know that cars and trucks do this and was wondering if it is normal for a bike with only 15000 k's on it..

thanks

when you checked the oil level, did you stand the bike up straight? If you leave it on the kickstand when you check it it will be low.

it's pretty normal to burn a small amount of oil every couple thousand miles. Nothing to worry about unless you have to add a liter every month. check for tiny leaks or seapage.

yeah thats what i figured..i did some research and found another gentleman askin this same question on another site..i wasnt really that concerned it was just the fact that its my first sportbike and wanted to know others opinions, but losses over time are mostly due to heat and viscosity.......i am prolly makin the change over to Motul next!....what do you run in yours??..all the guys i ride with are using motul and they swear by that red stuff lol

I just got to 7200 miles so I'll probably be changing over to the motul 300V. I run the basic cheapy mineral stuff right now, but I also change my oil every 2500 miles.
