Thumbs down Ignition Problem...PLEASE HELP!!!

Alright everyone. Heres the problem: I cannot get my ignition switch to turn to the left when turning the bike off. The only way i can turn the bike off is by using the kill switch or turning the key to the right (leaving the parking light on). I'm pretty sure my key is still good cause I can get the bike to turn on and I'm not having any problems when releasing the back seat nor with the gas tank. All works fine but i cannot turn the bike to the off position. Has anyone had this problem and anyone have any ideas on what i can do to correct the problem? Oh, if anyone needs details the bike is a 2003 ZX6r

I need some clarification here. Are you saying you can only turn the key to the off position once the engine is off? Or, the key never can be turned to the OFF position?
If the latter is true I would say the ignition switch is faulty.

Also, is the key the original or a duplicate?

Sounds like it's time for a new ignition switch.

use graphite or dry slide instead of wd40. wd40 builds up with dirt after a while.

this is so weird, the same exact thing happened to me today! i seriously need help. the key does not go to the OFF position. (i have same bike and year). and the only way that i can still ride it is that i made a switch to turn off the parking light when the key is all the way to the right (ACC). please help. I am thinking about trying to fix the tumblers myself cause i am a poor SF college student.
