More RWHP; Power loss after 12000 rpm on new zx6r's???
Ok I recently got an 08' zx6r. This is what ive done so far:
Two brothers slip on; PC III; One Down sprocket replacement; frame sliders.
I've had it dyno'd and there seems to be a problem with the new zx6's, they lose power after 12000 rpms and this is supposed to be because of a govenor of some sort, this also isnt supposed to be a factor any more once you get the PC III installed. What should I/can I do to get more horse power and fix my problem of losing power when I top out?

On the pcIII do you have the limiter removed?? And are you useing a coustom map? Or just a factory setting. Coustom maps can make all the diffrence!!

The rev limiter acts like a govener in the top end all other gears can be banged out except 6th. With the rev limiter removed you should be able to bang out in 6th.
But I'd check your map make sure it's the right one for your setup. at 12R's and over the bike should be a beast..

there is a jumper to change from the american tune to the euro tune.
(nothing to do with the EFI, but with a 'power valve or something)
here's how to do it.

the jumper mod doesn't apply when you have a PCIII. It sounds like whoever tuned your bike screwed up. the governor kicks in at redline on the 07-08. Stock peak power is about 12500 rpm. when mine was stock with the jumper, it would rev to 16500 with no significant power loss. I've got a PCIII on my bike without a tune and it's got loads of power all the way to redline without messing with the limiter. go talk to your dyno guy and see what he can do...

How much power are you talking? I trust the guys that dyno'd my bike we worked on it for about a days time and got it at about exactly 100 rwhp with only a few minor mods, so should i have more power or do you think there still may be something up?

100 horsepower is nothing to sneeze at.
make your bike drop 10 lbs & work on apexes.
will the stock fuel injection hold up to larger tb's?
has anyone messed with cam timing?

gunslinger is right. but what you described was that you have a significant power loss after 12k. what that means to me is that you're basically hitting a wall in your power band. Did I misunderstand? you should start losing power after peak, but you should still be able to run into the over rev with no problems. If you can't, then they probably tuned just your power band and didn't mess with anything above it.

as far as I can tell, the injectors will handle just about anything you throw at them. putting larger TB's on isn't gonna be worth it. you'll spend a lot of time and money trying to get it to work properly. I think there are a couple guys on here that have messed with the cam timing. They are also running highly modded bikes...
