Question Carb Settings and Float Bowl Questions

So, I have my carbs off and finally pulled the caps off to get at the slow speed needles. I thought for sure I'd find them all backed out the same distance, but that wasn't the case. Should they be, or is this normal. Two are about one and a half turns out and the other two are between 2.5 and 3. And do I really need to get replacement caps for them, or can i throw a wad of caulk or something in there. I'm pretty sure they're not going anywhere with those spings.

While I had those off I was looking at my intake manifolds to find where the vacuum gauges hook up to do a carb sync and i found that my vacuum lines had some holes in them. Am I going to have any detrimental impact if I do the float bowl mod on a stock setup? Does anyone have any pictures or tricks/tips to doing it?

If I understand correctly, the two larger hoses coming off the valve covers get piped together, and the hose that's going to the carbs gets routed to the airbox. Then I should be able to pull the two different vacuum switches and all the bs vacuum line? Throw some caps on the vacuum plugs on the intake manifolds and I should be good right?

What am I missing?
