Runs only with choke on

92 ZX11 completely stock
Bike sat for a couple of years untouched
New battery and started fine but stalls if the choke is off. Was able to get it above 4K and keep it running without the choke but stalled at anything less than 4K rpms.
New plugs, fuel filter and pulled the needles and slides off the carbs and cleaned them (two slides were stuck closed). Wanted to take the carb bowls off and clean them also but did not have the proper screw driver and was about to start stripping the screws and did not chance it. Drained the fuel tank and filled it with fresh stuff.
After a short time cranking it fired right up but again stalls when you let off the choke.
Obviously a fueling problem but the exact cause is unknown. Any ideas? Stuck floats or bad fuel pump (didn't test the pump due to time).

looks like the carbs need a good cleaning.

And to think I had a 85 GPZ 750 Turbo with FI and never had this type of problem. But with 18 lbs of boost, a requirement of very high octane fuel and a small tank, I was not able to wander too far from the 55 gallon drum of fuel in my garage. So I bought another 10 second bike with a bigger tank that ran on pump fuel and here I am. Thanks for the opinions guys. Time to go back into the garage for disassembly.
