Fender Eliminator question 00 ZX6R

Hey people,

I searched this forum, google, other forums, and couldn't find a straight answer on this...

I am trying to fabricate a fender eliminator and looked at removing the rear fender yesterday but didn't realize that it actually serves a purpose (holds battery, fuse box, etc.) So I guess I am not removing the entire fender. Do most people use a dremel or something and just got the "flap" part off and leave the rest of the fender intact?

Thanks...

I am lazy so I just buy a ready made one where some else did all the "figuring out" parts; then I just follow the instructions for the install.

Hack away everything along the fender line.

And I did use a hack-saw blade.
You can clean everything up after with a file and sandpaper.

~
Cut yourself a good templet that will fit well.

~
Dont do it mid summer.
IT'S HOT!

~
Use your templet to cut out your thin sheet metal undertail.

~I then drilled and rivited it to whats left of the fender.

I painted mine black on the inside and used undercoating on the bottom.
Also used a black silicone to seal it.

~
While I was there, I installed a tail light converter.

Good luck.
It is a bit of work, but you can do it.
Once you are done, you'll look back and say,
"That was not that hard."
Just take your time.

Nice job raized - very clean

Quite the pictorial too I might add

Just curious - did that metal piece you use come from a florescent light ballast by any chance? I used one once to cut & form a small plate on my bike and your pic of the cut metal piece looked very familiar.
