Ticket Getter
Here's a thread I havent seen yet. We all own the baddest ST out there, who's had that proven by the Highway Patrol? I have been fortunate so far, but can feel it coming...

I was pulled over on a two lane road on the C-14 once. 80 in a 60. He said he pulled me over to warn me to slow down because of the wildlife on the road ahead. I think he just wanted to check out my bike.
Only a warning thankfully.

When I was the police in Chicago I let everyone go as long as they were polite. Now living in Florida and worry about tickets myself. And if it happens it could very possibly be as much as 60-80 over the limit. Bike will get you in trouble. But it is fun.

The 80's
I used to get pulled all the time in San Diego, as I was riding an '83 Yamaha Seca 900. There were 650's and 750's all over the place, but the 900 was extremely rare. Rare enough to where I was pulled several times just to talk about the bike. Still have copies of two tickets I got where they listed it as a 750.

I'll have to plea the 5th... I have to be VERY good thru February. Then the nice judge in Oregon will dismiss my ticket... Let's just say the LEO lit me up on decel and I was under the magic ton... This was on my Blackbird... The reason I go the C14 was so I would slow down...

I got nabbed for 67 in 55. Just before I passed the new 60mph sign. Here in TX you can go Deferred Ajudication and that gets you 3 month probation. It cost you more but at least you dont have the insurance hike or driving school. Only 5 weeks left ...whew

I've been pulled over twice. First time I got a warning. Second time 85 in a 65. Prior to the C14 I'd never received a ticket on a motorcycle.

I agree, its easy as hell to go fast on this bike and not realize it. I drive a 7 series BMW as my cage, and its kind of the same thing, you just don't realize how fast you're going until you go "wow, oops". Going from my Suburban to that car is tricky. I got a Beltronics STI Driver detector and have set a warning on the car to beep at 79 mph.
I have gotten one other ticket in about the past 15 years, that was for 10 over on my Vtwin, same place as I got the ticket on the C14. Same cop.

54 in a 40 - probably still in second but as I don't recall getting spotted - we have these lovely things called Safety Camera Partnerships over here in the UK who travel around with mobile cameras and snap you when you can't see them - I can't really be sure. It was a clear road, dual carriageway and dry but still they've set the limit to 40!

Getting tickets on major roads is a pain. I try to stick to roads 1 up from gravel roads on the really long trips. Usually much less traffic and as a side effect, much less speed enforcement. Then again, there is the occasional county leo sitting on some of these roads - at the bottom of a hill, but that is rare.
Good luck!

Hello, all ! New member here and I thought I'd throw in my 2cents worth. I ride an '01 ZX-12 and I find it hard to keep her under a buck. Rarely do I tag the 'Rocket boys'. So long as you've got your endorsment and ins on the bike, I'll give ya a pass on the speed. Afterall, if ya can't ride em quick, ya might as well be on a Harley. Like me at work!

I ride opposite (unless in Nevada). When going long distance I ride the super slab and coupe the ride with this:
The heavier traffic on interstates provides for excellent cover. I invariably get ample heads up with the V1 on interstate because there is always traffic running a front door for me. About the only way to get nailed employing this technique is if they have the plane up.
The other near fail safe way to haul ass and avert speed tax is here:
I've ridden the ET Highway and seen a mere 3 cars in 120 miles! None were LEO. Can you say terminal velocity?

Unfortunately radar detectors are illegal in Australia except for Western Australia. Get caught with one of those on your bike or in your pocket and it's $700 and points.

Sorry to hear about that Chez- Some cops have no sense of humor. But then again we all have our pet peves. Mine lean towards idiot cagers and Semi trucks that have no tarp covering their loads(sand anyone?!?).
