Possible new recall on C14.

Well, I guess this is going to be the next recall...........

THE RIGHT MIRROR ASSEMBLY

Go check yours NOW, if you push the mirror back and look in between you might see a crack, if you do, GO TO KAWASAKI NOW.
Mine was cracked, so I took it back and they replaced it, now, this new mirror (8 days old) has done exactly the same thing.
I went into the dealers today, and they advised they sold 3 Connies and ALL 3 bikes have right cracked mirrors......
GO CHECK YOUR MIRROR.
If you dont know where to look I'll post a pic.....
Phil.

There have been recalls on the C 14? I have received nothing in the mail from KAwasaki? No cracks in my mirrors.

New Recall? I didn't see the old recalls. I have 9200 miles on mine... no cracks in my mirrors, I did find a big dead bug in there tho... thanks for having me check them.

Phil, As I said in the thread on the COG forum, you are not alone....

Bama posted some great pics that allowed me to find my bike has the same issue.

Recall

I just went to the Kawi site and searched by VIN. No recalls came up for my number. What gives?

I just got off the phone with Kawasaki corporate customer service, and the rep said this was the "first they heard of it"... (they supposedly don't monitor dealer parts orders)...

So--- NOW they've "heard of it"

I would NOT expect to see Kwak institute a recall, unless a large number of the mirrors actually FELL OFF. I'm sure MOST people who have bought the bikes aren't even aware of this problem-- as it appears to be (for the most part) cosmetic.

Great heads up, Phil. I would not of known my bike had this problem otherwise..

If you go to your dealer after you have signed off the bike and complain about any defect like this cracked mirror, it will be down to the generosity of the dealer and nothing else, as to wether they replace it free of charge or not. Kawasaki will not replace this mirror damage under the warranty and quite frankly I don't blame them.

No offense HITMAN, but they will replace it in the US. They have a bulletin out to the effect that it was mis-installed. I called my dealer and ask them to order one as I found the crack. They know there is a problem at assembly. If you need a picture go look on the coucours forum. Good info and pictures.

The mirrors are not SEATED into the fairing on assembly and the stress cracks them on the BLACK flat part of the mount. ( you need to fold the mirrors back to see a crack) I pushed mine with very little force ( back towards the bars) and it popped right into place. The crack is no longer visable, but I know it's there, and it will be fixed.

I stand corrected...So far nothing has been reported here in the UK regarding the cracked mirror mount.

The reason they are cracking is cause they are being fitted incorrectly at assembly at dealers. There is a memo out for dealers now to ensure the mirrors line up exactly when fitting. The ones that are a little staggered crack when the mirror is turned in or out.

Phil

Thanks for the heads-up. I've made my GTR1400 riding buddies aware there might be a problem with the mirrors.

Whether Kawa will own up to it and replace any defective unit under warranty remains to be seen. So far, however, no such issues have been reported -- but the flaw is well hidden

I checked my bike and all is well. I tried to check my bike over carefully before I took delivery. The dealer did have to replace the windscreen because I noticed a scratch that they knew about but tried to get away with.
