A new Concours 14 luggage rack

I'm new to this forum. In fact I didn't know it existed until someone suggested I post this notice as it appeared in another forum. I guess there are more Concours fans and websites than I was aware of.

In early November I posted pictures of a "better" luggage rack I made to mount a top-box on my Concours 14 using a universal mounting plate. I read of several failures of the plastic rack and knew I wanted something stronger. I also wanted fore/aft adjustment of the top-box position. The slotted design I came up with allows about 2" of adjustment to suit my passenger. I received many compliments and requests from members asked me to make copies for sale. Since I couldn't make that many I searched out a professional machine shop to produce them. They exceeded my expectations and are producing a better finished and more precisely machined product than I could. I am as proud of their product as I am of the original on my bike.

Their production version is offered as a more attractive, larger, and much stronger alternative to the original plastic. It is CNC machined from 3/8" aluminum plate and is over 1/4" thick at its thinnest point! It is beautifully powder coated in black wrinkle finish with "brushed" aluminum on the raised ribs. Measuring 9-1/2" x 12" and weighing 2.6 LB., the rack is a drop-in replacement using the stock hardware. Top and bottom perimeter edges are nicely rounded with a 1/8" radius to match the contour in the grab rails.

The rack, stock# C14LR, is offered for sale by "Advanced Machining & Tool Inc". I have worked closely with them to assure quality, beauty and a perfect fit.

If you have questions please contact me either through "Private Message" or directly phham81@sbcglobal.net

The following are photos of the production product.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...k/PICT4279.jpg

The rack is offered for sale at $134.00 + $13.00 UPS ground shipping & handling ($147.00 Total), TX residents must add $10.72 State tax ($157.72 Total).

For members in other countries, shipping is by U.S.P.O flat rate Priority Mail. The rate to Canada is $23.00, the U.K. $37.00.
The flat rate box can hold up to 5 racks for the same price, so ordering with a friend can save money. Inquire for rates to other countries.

If you wish to order or make inquiries, please EMAIL me @ phham81@sbcglobal.net Please indicate your country or State when ordering. Upon receipt of your order, I will EMAIL you an invoice containing a link to PAYPAL for payment by credit card, debit card, or PAYPAL account.
U.S. Post Office money orders will be accepted also. Shipment will follow receipt of the paid invoice. Please allow 14 days for delivery

I know Phillip from the COG forum. He's a good guy that makes a great product and stands behind his craftmanship. His rack was well recieved on their forum. I like the looks of it. I'm sure he'll be ready to answer all your questions about it.

Merry Christmas!

Jerry

That is the best looking rack I have seen and at the right price. Would it be possible (extra cost) to include Givi mounts (2 lugs at front and a catch at the rear) for Monokey box?
Regardless, how much would shipping be to the UK?

Thanks
TwD

Does anyone else in the UK want one? May save some money on shipping :-)

CW3: The rack is made of 6061 (I saw that on the raw material) I'm not sure what the T6 designation is. I assume it's one of the easy-to-machine alloys, I'll check the next time I'm at the machine shop.

TOUCHWOODSDEN & KEZBO22: The U.S. Post Office has a flat rate priority mail box for $37.00 to the U.K. I think I could fit at least 4 racks (possibly 5)in one box for the same price. If you're interested in this please email me directly and I'll handle the details. Thanks for your interest. It's great to hear from people around the world. I've traveled quite a bit in the U.K. and have a niece who's married to a "Brit".

I have one of Phils racks. It is a beautifully made, very strong product that can be used for different box mounts. I have the JC Whitney box on my bike, and the rack mounts it easily. Even though I have put a lot of torque into mountiing the Whitney adapter plate, there are no marks on the rack. It is so pretty that it is almost a shame to mount something on it and hide it. I recommend it to any Concousrs owner that wants to deep six that plastic piece of S&*t that Kawasaki supplies with the bike. BTW, I have no financial interest in this product, only meeting Phil online by buying his rack.

Count me in if you are making up a list for delivery to the UK, TwD.

So far it looks as though there are 4 who want one here.
Touchwoodsden; KEZBO22; Steve_K: and Hitman. One more would probably fill the parcel if Philip can get 5 in a box.

At $134 plus a share of the $37 shipping that is a good price for such a pretty rack. Once the final details are sorted we can all split the cost including shipping and send TwD a bit to cover his costs in sending the rack out to us here in the UK.
Twist Philips arm a bit and we may also get a discount for 5.

I suggest we all send $142 by paypal to Philip with covering email, then we just need another 1 to join us. Shouldnt take long. If we dont get another one it's only a few $ each extra.
If Philip posts em to me I will distribrutete around UK and everyone can send me UK post costs.
If everyone can confirm they will do that I shall send mine off PDQ.
Is anybody there?

Philip, is that OK? I will let you have address with payment

James

I would like to respond individually with answers but I don't know if this forum provides that capability, So I'll do it this way:

CW3: The racks are made of 6061-T6. I'm told this is a harder, easy-to-machine alloy/heat treatment.

TOUCHWOOSDEN,HITMAN: I have received another order from a person in UK. I'll email him and see if he's familiar with this website. He may choose to consolidate his order with yours.
If you will Email Me @ phham81@sbcglobal.net I will consolidate and ship your orders just as soon as the details are worked out.

FRANS:There is a flat rate box the US. Post office uses that will hold 4-5 racks. The flat rate to S. Africa is $37.00. I don't know if there are others who might want to consolidate. Either way email me directly and I'll handle it.

I sent this email, along with shipping address to
bret.tarver@advanced-machining.com
referencing stock# C14LR.
As indicated in the very top post. I suggest all other UK buyers do similar and post here when done and post again when paid. 1st come (paid) first served :-)

"We have been having some talk with Philip. We are ordering 5 Kawasaki Concours 14 rear racks (maybe 6) for shipping to UK. We are splitting overseas carriage between us which works out at $134 plus $8 share of carriage. Others will email seperately. Cn u pls send paypal email adress and I will send paymentf or mine. Others will contact you directly.
Thanks
James Mather"

James (TwD), I've sent an email to Philip at phham81@sbcglobal.net placing my order. It may be best if everyone interested emails him direct and then he can consolidate orders and arrange for payment and shipping to you etc.
